Sun & Snow:
The Arrowhead Lodge is at the doorstep of the Red River Ski Area. This is where you can purchase your lift tickets, arrange for ski rental and sign-up for ski lessons. It all happens here and is only a short walk from your room. This is a huge advantage when dealing with family ski vacations that require almost day-to-day coordination.
I know this first hand. We have five kids and there is little or no joy in getting into a cold car, driving to a perpetually full parking lot and making arrangements among the teaming masses. The Arrowhead Lodge’s location is extremely convenient for managing a family ski vacation. You can nip in at off peak times and take care of your matters in a fraction of the time. How much is that worth to you? Our location makes it easy to pop in for a quick lunch and/or pick up/drop-off ski clothing. This is not a real convenient option if your room is on Main Street! And parking is never a problem when you stay at the Arrowhead Lodge.
If you are not a downhill skier and you are looking for some outdoor fun, the Pioneer Creek trail starts at our entrance and is available for cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.
We love to ski at Red River and staying at the Arrowhead Lodge makes that experience even better. Why fight the traffic and crowds, stay at our premium location and enjoy all of your vacation.
Ahhh….there is nothing like the sound of cascading water mixed with the soft flutter of hummingbird wings as the sun makes its way over the mountains. Heaven on earth; this might be pretty close!
Our location surrounds you with God’s handy work and at the Arrowhead Lodge, you move at whatever pace pleases you. The “hustle and bustle” of Main Street is only a five minute stroll through lovely surroundings. And parking is never a problem when you stay at the Arrowhead Lodge.
The Arrowhead Lodge sits at the trail head for the Pioneer Creek trail or Forest Road 485. In the summer months the trail is used for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
This 6 mile long trail starts at 8,800 feet and ends at 11,200 with a total elevation gain of 2,400 feet. This is a nice, wide trail that is exceptionally scenic and includes several mining claims from Red River’s rich and exciting mining history. Hiking this trail is much better exercise than you’ll ever get from a Stairmaster!
One of our favorite things to do in the summer as a family is to walk underneath the chair lifts looking for “treasures”. While we never found anything of any value (thus far) that fell during ski season, the “hunt” kept the kids happily occupied and, as an added benefit, ensured a sound sleep that night.
